how to make a 4 stroke scooter faster

I have a 98 Yamaha that is dangerously slow going up any sort of hill. . Will replace with new one anyway for DIRECT comparison for future reference. I cant find much on this scooter so i know nothing about it. Do you have any tips for me on how to derestrict it and/or improve performance.
